ANST - The P-word

Ah, now I see Sie Die John Smith's point: population growth means
more events Ansteorra-wide, hence more events A-w, hence more
conflicts, hence more regionalism, hence a need for the P-word.
Thanks for clarifying that, Sir. And now I'd like to marlinspike
the topic, sew it into a hammock, drop two large cannonballs in
the sack, and shove it over the side into blue water.

*Has* population grown, though? I think SCA membership has been static
for several yeasr (tho $35 full membership per year may have something
to do with it; I just wrote a renewal check, and that plus first-class
plus Complete Anachronist plus the BoD minutes set me back $72).
Didn't I hear something about Ansteorran paid membership dropping,
to where people were starting to worry about long-term status?

Now population = members + non-members. Has the non-member
population grown? My impression from Steppes and Bryn Gwlad is
that they're basically static. They are not typical groups, though.
(Please enter me in the Understatement of the Year contest.)
