One of my modern-life professors said to me today, "I cannot *teach* you
anything.  I can only *inspire* you to learn."  I think that is how it
is with Pelicans and Proteges.  You cannot teach service, but you can
mentor a few special people and inspire them to dedicate themselves to
service.  The proteges will teach themselves how best to serve.
