On long threads, you might see quite a few of these scattered
throughout messages.  It would be courteous, and it would make your
messages easier to read, if you just highlight the thing, and hit
"backspace".

Good advice.  Also folks, if you're going to forward reforwarded
messages that have been forwarded a few times before that even it
would help if you took the time to dress up the text by eliminating
most of the "quote indicators [ <!> is the one my machine uses].
