Greetings all,
I hope this message finds you in good health and spirit.
There will be a work day and planning meeting at the
Texas Renaissance Festival on Saturday Feb 21 from
noon until dark. The projects that need to be addressed
over the next few workdays are:
Get leaves off of roofs and repair rotten decking and
shingles. Possibly install a hatch to allow easier
access to the roof in the future. We will need a 20'
or longer extension ladder to get this done if anyone
knows where to get one.
Finish cement walkways. We could also use some
actual stones to finish off the flowerbeds. Maybe
someone in Bryn Gwlad or Bjornsburg knows where
there are excess stones we can get for free. I will
gladly drive my truck there to pick them up. Stones
are far more expensive in the Stargate/ Ravensfort area
than anyone could guess.
Dig more flowerbeds and gardens. Now is the time to
get new vines and perennials started. Please bring
shovels and rakes.
Clean out the armory and install larger bolts on the
windows. Look at painting the rafters and joists in
both buildings.
Fill in the open spaces in the reviewing stand and
determine what would be necessary to convert it to a
stage. Replace the roof over it and finish the roof
on the existing stage. Work on canvas covers for them
with dagging.
Build a practice pell that looks period.
Come up with other projects that will improve the
appearance and functionality of the compound.
Find ways that will generate an income for the compound
and sponsoring groups.
The past few TRF meetings have been particularly productive.
We plan to make several changes this year to make it easier
and more fun to participate. I will post soon on the proceedings.
Please contact me privately for more info & directions.
Come on out and help if you can, your ideas and suggestions
are needed.
In fine spirit,
