<heavily edited to get to the point>
> I am appalled that some groups won't recommend a youth for awards - that's
> a problem with the *local group* not the Crown or the kingdom! You
> recommend *ANYBODY* for *ANY* award that you think that they have earned!
> Since we had children functioning as adults, we never hesitated about
> giving them adult awards - they got Rising Stars, all right, and AoA's, and
> Cranes, and I don't know what else, but the awards were entirely
> appropriate to the work that they were doing!
> I wouldn't have any problem with making a Laurel who was a youth, so long
> as they had mastery of their art and the type of emotional maturity that we
> hope for in a peer. And I think that there's absolutely no reason NOT to
> give service and arts awards to kids of any age who are doing the work!
VIVAT GUNNORA!!!!! This is what I meant earlier! If they do the work, they
should be awarded accordingly, age has nothing to do with it.......but our
perceptions do. So lets remember that when we see young folk working
their little tushies off at events!
