Many of us are still poor... However, $35.00 per year is not a lot of money by
most anyone's accounting... Shucks, if one is that poor then they really
shouldn't be playing the SCA at all... (Yeah, I know...I'm fixing to catch
Hel's own storm for that one.....*sigh*)

Because there are too many security risks inherent in the _world wide
distribution_ that a Web Page naturally has......

If a person is too poor to be a member...then how can they afford the cost of a
I-net service provider...?...unless they are a student with a free account? As
well, your friends in the SCA that are members can be contacted for event
information and such.....

What, exactly, does being an American have to do with membership requirments in
an organization? An American is required to have a license to do many things
here as well...

My ancestors and relatives have fought in every War since they arrived in this
land since 1666... That fact and $1.25 will buy me a cup of coffee...

The end result is that a private organization _can require_ membership to
participate... It's called freedom. You have the freedom to join or not
join...it's up to you. In the SCA, unlike many other organizations, we do not
require our participants to be members except for certain of our activities.
Such as being an officer, entering Crown lists, being a Steward...etc. If you
wish to serve the SCA in one of those capacities then you needs must be a paid
member...with access to a Kingdom newsletter. Those are the rules we all
follow... If this is unacceptable to you then become a member of the Board of
Directors and change the rules...of course you have to be a member to be a
member of the Board..........
