Involved?  That's an understatement.

Here's the meat of the letter the Board had published in
the July 98 Southwind (Atenveldt's newsletter):

"As a result of our investigation of Estrella War XIII, we 
 find that the then Crowns, Kingdom Treasurer, Kingdom
 Seneschal and War Autocrats violated Corpora, then
 applicable Atenveldt Kingdom Law and Society
 Branch Financial Policy. These violations include,
 but are not limited to:

 Corpora: VI.A.1.c(1), VI.A.1.d(1)
 SCA Financial Policy: IIB, IIIA, IVA, VIC, VIII
 Then applicable Atenveldt  Kingdom Law:
    III.A.2.b, III.B.1.c, III.B.1.h, III.B.2.b, III.B.2.c,
    IV.A.2.b, IV.B.4.a, IV.B.4.b, CI.A, XII.J
 Atenveldt Fiscal Policy: I.1"

The BoD then sanctioned Mark Kiel, Patrick Cuccurello,
Ellen Parker, Donald Perrine and Nichelle Vargo, 
forbidding them from holding any office, autocratting
any event, or fightin in or being fought for in any
Royal Tournament for  30 months beginning 
April 18th, 1998. William Scott was banished from 
the Society.

Now, you want to know why the Board did this ?
Ask them, not me.  I don't speak for the SCA.
