The Star of Merit is for individuals who have given great service to the
Kingdom. This means to me, that you are no longer just working in your
group. Maybe you have help one or more Kingdom or Regional offices. Maybe
you have autocrated several Kingdom events (Crown Tourney, Kingdom A&S,
etc.) Or maybe some combination of both with other service thrown in for
go measure. The key point to me is Service to the Kingdom.

The Iris of Merit was once (a long time ago) described as being for working
in the A&S on a Kingdom Level and being skilled enough in at least one Art
or Science that you might have been able to earn your living at it in the
Middle Ages. Today, I think it is for great skill in one or more of the
Arts or Sciences, teaching, and work that goes beyond your local group.
That to the Kingdom thing again.
