I agree that for dehydration the first thing to do is take in am much
water as possible, then top it off with a little juice or power/gatorade.
 The handy thing about the power aide is that large quantities can be
made cheaply and quickly and the powders stuff will keep until you need
it.  I being one of the fighter at TRF certainly think Cougar for the
powerade and also the water.  BTW  the routine for waterbearing at faire
is generally pure water at the battle mound and the power aide back at
the armory to slug down after taking off the armor. 

A couple words of wisdom on the subject:

There us an old Arab saying ," Carry your water in you!" . This couldn't
be better advice. According to experts, if you wait until you feel
"thirsty" to drink water, you have already become partially dehydrated. I
suggest before attempting anything remotely strenuous in the heat drink
as much water as you can, then drink more  at every opportunity.  Go by
the waterbearing slogan "If you don't have to run to the bathroom, you
haven't drank enough water."
