ANST - Siege train

Hello all you artillery lovers:
Some people have kicked around the idea of the kingdom's siege engineers
pooling their resources and seeing about renting trucks and/or trailers.
That would make it cheaper in the long run to haul the siege train to
and from the Gulf War. A while back I volunteered to do the
coordinating work necessary for this, and I am now getting seriously
started.
I am lining up several ideas on how to do this. Right now I am thinking
in terms of staging the move. We could rent a storage space for a month
somewhere near the eastern border, and stockpile everything in advance.
Then, a trail party could load vehicles and move everything to the war
site on Thursday. That would be the least time and mileage on the
rental vehicles (cheapest), but would require the most from the owners
to move things to and from the staging point. It's an idea; I welcome
input.
Whatever the final plan, what I need most right now a good idea of what
we will have to move. If you're interested in doing this type of mass
migration, please email me privately. DON'T put this information on a
public mailing list where the Trimarans can read it. To calculate the
transport requirements I must have the following information:
Estimate of total weight -- everything you would be shipping
Estimate of total volume -- number of cubic feet occupied by your
equipment
Dimensions of the largest pieces you would be shipping
Special packing requirements -- if something has to be loaded on top
to avoid weight on it, say so
Remember the sizes, weights, and special packing requirements of
ammunition and any support equipment that goes with the siege devices
must be included in this planning. And if you are still working on
something that will be finished in time for the war, include that in
your figures. It is better to overestimate than underestimate; I can
always cancel a reserved truck or trailer at the last minute, but it may
be impossible to get additional transport reserved at the last minute.
If you know of anyone who is interested in siege warfare but doesn't
have email, please relay information for them. Happy warring.
