Uhm, admittedly I'm a Yankee, but where I grew up, steaks were not "raw
meat cooked on a grill". Grilling was more a way to prepare a steak than
part of the definition of a steak. Steak could be cooked on a pan on the
stove, in the oven, etc. (In fact, I PREFER my steak broiled in an oven
to grilled.) When I was growing up, I was taught that steak was a cut of
meat. (My uncle was a professional chef in Vermont for many years.)
