No problem. Let's encourage people to do period artwork such as Books
of Hours or Psalters.

No problem. Let's quit using photocopied paper and start doing real
period-style charters, as I have been urging for the last 15 years.
Mistress Serena made significant progress in that direction during her
tenure as Sable Scroll Pursuivant -- of course, she understood her job
to involve encouraging, rather than discouraging, period practice. Up
to now, Ansteorra has been leading the Known World in researching and
implementing period document forms. I guess someone has decided that we
aren't going to do that anymore.

No problem. Let's just change the intro to the Articles of
Incorporation from "Research and education in the field of
pre-17th-Century Western Culture." to "Creating stuff that people not
in the organization will think is really neat when they see it hanging
on my wall."

Am I the only person bothered by the prospect that an officer whose job
is supervising the production of official award documents for a Kingdom
of the SCA, an organization allegedly dedicated to "Research and
education in the field of pre-17th-Century Western Culture", is
knowingly encouraging people to do things that are demonstrably
contrary to period practice? With no better reason than "people not in
the organization think it looks cool"? Has Ansteorra turned into a
RenFair and I somehow didn't get the memo? If the SCA has
surreptitiously become an annex to the prop department for "Xena the
Warrior Princess", would somebody please let me know, so I can quit
this organization and find one that has something to do with the Middle
Ages?
