I disagree with you only a wee bit.

I think what Daniel suggested was that things have gotten quite good (indeed) if
folks can watch a movie and know that such obscure details of history have been
messed with.  And further (my opinion, now), with History containing such wonderful
plot twists and turns that no author could really ever hope to recreate, I am often
disappointed when some screenwriter fells like he has to "dumb down" the real
history so we of the masses will "get it."

I feel the same way when complex details of great books are oversimplified for a
film.

Now, as to whether all this means that we are way too involved in the SCA.., I
disagree with you..., strongly.  I think that people who are knowledgeable about a
subject are understandably disappointed when that subject is treated
"unrealistically" in film.  I am a former soldier, and it irks the cr*p out of me
when army units or personnel are shown doing things that you just "know" (for what
that's worth) they wouldn't do.., and this usually means acting hyper-agressive and
unreasonable to bring the major plot complication to a break point.
I have attended cop movies with cops, who have felt the same way..., computer
movies with computer folks..., "Nell" with a speech pathologist..., etc..., and
they were all, in one way or another, just a little bit disappointed, despite
having enjoyed the movie..

So, wolf, if you enjoyed the movie at face value.., more power to you.  If others
enjoyed it, but a bit less for all the "funky-history".., so be it.  Different
strokes.

Besides, I've even been told that there are folks out there who actually enjoyed
"Dumb & Dumber", .., PROOF positive that there is no accounting for taste. (JOKE)
