>and defend the lists for thirty days against all comers from England and

>In the year 1390, Boucicaut, de Roye and de Sempy, announced they would 
>face all comers at St. Inglevert, a monastery outside of Calais.  Over a 
>hundred English knights and squires arrived, mostly to watch this 
>impressive feat of arms, as well as about forty knights from other 
>countries.  Thirty-nine comers faced the three knights over a period of 
>four days…the jousting was of a superior standard.  When the three returned 
>to Paris, they were lauded by King Charles VI and the populace alike...some 
>have said that it was indeed the greatest enterprise undertaken in the 
>Fourteenth Century.

>To honor this great feat the Barony of Bright Hills invites the Known World 
>to a Grand Passage of Arms to be held this October 29-31st.  Let it be 
>known throughout all the Kingdoms that we welcome all comers at the 
>barrier, for the love of enterprise and the camaraderie of those of 
>chivalrous nature.  Let it also be known that we have sent word to the 
>Chivalry of each and every kingdom, that they may come and meet us at the 
>barrier, and that we may have such a feat of arms as to delight the 
>populace and be rich in spectacle and honorable combat.

>We heartily encourage all comers to help us make this a truly spectacular 
>enterprise.  The populace will be well favored by all that bring surcoats, 
>banners, and helm crests, pavilions and other finery to please the eye.  
>Please bring an entourage of heralds to cry your challenges and proclaim 
>your feats of skill to all, minstrels to please the crowd and add delight 
>to the day and other retainers as is fitting one of noble bearing.  Any and 
>all minstrels are invited to join in the revelry of the day, and heralds 
>are invited as there will be employment by nobles wishing to present 
>themselves in a right and worthy manner.

>Prizes will be awarded to those comers who have displayed great prowess, 
>personal display and chivalry. The populace will also be involved as they 
>shall choose their favorite as well.  Also, their Excellencies will choose 
>the Baronial Champion for Bright Hills.

>Archery: In addition to the pas d'armes there will be also an archery 
>tournament, featuring the best archers of Bright Hills and Spiaggia 
>Leventina taking on all comers.  The tournament will consist of a Royal 
>Round and various fantasy shoots.  The winners will compete on the tourney 
>field for the title of overall champion.  Prizes will be awarded to

>Site:  The site is Rocks 4-H camp.  There is space for tent camping as well 
>as two large barracks style dorms for those who do not wish to tent camp.  
>Dorm space is "First come, First served", your choice of party dorm or 
>family dorm.  You will need to supply your own linens.  The site is Wet; it 
>opens at 6:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 29th and closes at 12 noon on Sunday, 
>October 31st.  There is no smoking in any of the buildings nor is there any 
>smoking permitted in the central event area as per Atlantian law.

>Merchants:  Merchants are EXTREMELY welcome in Bright Hills!  As we have 
>done in the past, we hope to acquire many of the event prizes from visiting

>advise in advance, before September 30th, if you have special dietary needs 
>so they may be accommodated.

>Costs:  Fees are $16.00 for onboard adults and $8.00 for offboard adults.

>  Directions
>
>The site is Rocks 4-H camp at 8 Cherry Hill Road, Street, MD 21154.  Call 
>the Autocrat if you need a map.  There will be much signage.
>
>Take your best route to I-95 north of Baltimore, MD.  Go to Exit #77, MD 
>Rte. 24.  Take Rte. 24 West approximately 12-14 miles - going past Bel Air 
>and through Forest Hill.  After passing through Forest Hill, the road gets 
>narrow, windy and has no shoulders, just a creek to drive into.  DRIVE 
>CAREFULLY.  Just past the sign for Rocks State Park you will come around a 
>turn and see Cherry Hill Road.  Turn Right on Cherry Hill, go over the 
>one-lane bridge and turn left into the camp.  Check in with Troll at the 
>dining hall just past the swimming pool.
