I have been to many crown lists throughout the last 17years and watched  many 
reigns as a result of these same lists.  This process has served the Kingdom 
well as it has stood.  A lot of you are upset about Dukes being able to 
withdraw from the list.  Well it is their earned right. It always has been 
that way that I know of.  They have faithfully served the Kingdom and I feel 
that they have the best interests of the Kingdom at heart.  They fight in the 
lists to ensure the quality of those who make it to the final rounds, while 
this may not be fair, we are not re-creating a democratic society are we.  
When they withdraw from the list it is not always because they had no 
intention of winning, sometimes it is because they feel the remaining 
fighters would do a good job of serving the Kingdom and would like to give 
them the chance to do so.  

I urge those of you who question the way the lists are run to think about  
how theses methods have served Ansteorra.  Are you also the ones entering the 
lists? or sitting on the sidelines.  I find it hard to believe that so many 
people want to question something that has worked so well. Those of you that 
have served as crown or as their entourage know what an undertaking it really 
is both financially and mentally.  Those Dukes have not only undertaken this 
responsiblity once but twice and sometimes even more.  They have earned their 
right to protect the crown by entering the lists and challenging the 
competitors,  they better than anyone know what is expected and as I said 
before have Ansteorra's best interest at heart.

On a side note I have seen many a fighter withdraw from a list or fight with 
no intention of winning the title offered the champion and yet do not hear 
any complaints along these lines.
