Actually, in terms of real impact and far-sweeping changes over time, I'd
vote for the influential poet and philosopher Christine de Pisan, the
Western world's first feminist.  Her writings challenged the medieval
perception of women as hated objects and vessels of sin and temptation, as
she became embroiled in the pan-European debate over the famous poem, Le
Roman De La Rose.  She also authored works on courtly love, the proper
composition and use of police departments, and many other works.
