The SCA has 3 levels of "armigerousness":

((from lowest to highest))

the Award of Arms (often called an AoA)

The Grant of Arms/Rank ((Grant or GoA)) (in Ansteorra - The Orders of - Iris,
Star, White Scarf, Centurion - and Court Barony)

The Patent of Arms (Patent).  It is the Patent that makes the members of the
Laurel. Pelican, or Chivalry "Peers".
