simple solution ... dig down into the armour kit, find the duct-tape,
start wrapping .... if it's good enough for swords, should be good
enough for shoees.  artistic hint, after wrapping, dog out a black
"sharpie" and apply the lines for the lames and rivets for instant
sabbatons (g) 

here's a discussion point .. you choose to wear steel toed boots (or
steel toed black leather sneakers)for *safety* sake - traction, ankle
support, toe protection (a good reason for combat boots).  should't
that take precidence over "theatric" / appearance issues?
