Mara - not to pick on you alone - but this is all a bunch of sanctimonious moat
scum. Get a little empathy would you. This person moved to a new town, went
looking for the SCA online. Found what looked like perfectly good info (the
site had been recently updated) and used it...not once, but twice and got burned
both times. Then, in frustration, gaaked all over the ANST list and got stomped
for it!

Now s/he's in a position where s/he can't attend anything without the whole
Barony knowing just who s/he is...hey, we just don't get many new folk, and less
of them have initials M. L. McD.

[Heavy sarcasm coming] Oh yeah, if that were me, I'd just be *sure* to be at
the next practice/meeting/event! And, ya know, I'd be answering all that e-mail
too, so that people could just share around whatever I say. [heavy sarcasm
over].

M. L. McD might have been many things to us, a noble fighter, a sweet troubador,
a gifted woodwright, an illuminator, a pain in the butt , we'll never know
because all s/he is now is lost.

I was new here too just a year ago. And I wonder, at least once a week, just
what my experience would have been like had I not arrived with 20 years of
experience and alphabet soup tacked to my name. But any new place is hard,
don't ever for a minute think it's not. The feelings of frustration at exclusion
(real or perceived) are bitter indeed. I've carved out a place for myself and
found many new friends, close and dear and true. I feel very lucky.

I too, responded to this person with a welcoming, warm message. I'm not at all
surprised that I've not received an answer. Never the less, I hope that my
response fell on fertile ground and that someday it will yield good harvest.

M. L. McD - where ever you wander, fare you well. Let gentle words calm your
choler. Let open hands bring you ease. Leave your quarrels with us at our
door, be warm at our hearth and be thrice welcome in our fair company.
