Depending on the culture. Jews, for instance, could eat fish, but not clams
and other shellfish, and the priesthood was prohibited from ever touching
fish of any kind. The Europeans are known for having strange tastes in
fish... eel comes to mind. And although it's not a meat, kelp, or seaweed,
was a mainstay in several coastal cultures.
