Your Grace,

You have brought to light something that has become common misusage...

In think in many instances the invitations you spoke of were intended to
invite all of the Chivalry...both the Knights and the Masters...

I believe the Masters have been overlooked because until recently your
husband was (as far as I know of in recent years) was the only
active Master of Arms in the Kingdom. Also, as people enter the Society
they have a pre-SCA image and reference to Knights, but the concept of
Masters of Arms is a learned concept and not so automatic to think of
when persons think of fighting peers.

There may also be a problem, in that persons who have been missed in the
mailings are not on the list the Chivalry keeps of it's members and so
their addresses are unknown...or that their names (if they have moved in
from out of Kingdom) are not in our maintained Roll of Prescedence, which I
have personally used as a check list to ensure I had addresses on all
of the group I was targeting...

I think the biggest problem though, is that we have an information gap.
Newer people are not being taught the protocol and channels of information.

I hope the things that have happened to you and his Grace in regard to
the issue you stated never happen again...but, I hope if they do that
neither of you will let people's ignorance stop you from being where you
need to...to keep our history and traditions alive...
