---Yes, it was necessary, Your Excellency. It's bad enough that rampant
rudeness is being reported about the event, we shouldn't have to add
thievery to the list of offenses that will drive off potential members.

Besides, if the beer was 'taken' by minors and it's found out that I
'supplied' the brew, I'm liable by mundane laws and I'm not taking that fall
for ANYONE. I know which minors are 'allowed' by their parents to imbibe
and I respect their wishes as many respected mine while my children were
minors on site.

--- Though you may find my religious beliefs ridiculous, they are mine. You
make your threats, and beliefs, in the manner of your choosing.

---I sincerely and most humbly apologize to any camels and their advocates
for my mention of their reproductive organs on a public board. I will, in
future, restrict my remarks to private converstion with my local camel and
his/her physician.

---Not as long as it means I have to be a stuffed shirt or an person that
suffers compulsive disorders.

Pendaran's Response:

While I have no problem with reporting stolen items, even something as
insignificant as a twelve pack (or less) of cheap beer, its the manner in
which you reported your stolen property. Simply put, there are better ways
of doing it. While we're on the subject of driving off potential members,
let's not forget that calling down petulant curses can and likely does drive
away potential members. If you don't think that there are many people who
would be instantly turned off by the thought of the SCA after reading your
post, think again.

Your fear of the possibility of being held responsible had some minors
stolen the beer is quite understandable. If that was indeed the motivation
for your post why didn't you list it as such? Don't you think that would
have been a sobering thought for many people on the list and perhaps more
effect than threatening someone with your "craft"? (Sorry about the
unintentional pun.)

Concerning your beliefs; yes they are yours. You have the right to believe
as you choose and I will defend that right with my last breath. I will
likewise believe and threat as I choose but I *not* do it on this public
board. It is the venue, not your belief that is the issue. I still wonder
just how much of an outcry there would be if someone used this board to
profess their Christian beliefs. (Shoot, I've had people get upset with me
when I had myself announced as "By Grace of God, Knight of Ansteorra").

Are you in some way inferring that I have a compulsive disorder or are you
referring to the beer thieves? Just what exactly are you inferring Olivia?

As for what to call a thief (in reference to another post), how about
brigand, cut purse, villain, even kleptomaniac? I've read a fair bit of
Shakespeare (being the stuffed shirt that I am), and I don't recall old Bill
ever referring to camel testicles before, though I could be wrong.
