and nobody has mentioned one that is important on several fronts ...

firstly, it re-enegerized the armour scene with it's need for
creative interpretations of old styles.  those armourers in turn
begat more armourers .. etc.

secondly, it's a total redaction ... take the known myth, put a new
spin on it (loved the zen-druid thang ...) apply it to history as you
want it to me, scale the vision wide, ... and you create a new
intrepretation (ie: post roman britannic celts running around in
later period plate armour ... ie: what it *might* have been if they
had developed a stronger iron/steel working tech early on)

thirdly, shows the reality of combat in plate .. swords are useless,
you want mass weaponry and "can-openers" (ie: a common modern pointed
breaker bar from the hardware store (used for hole digging) would be
far more useful in keeping yourself alive than that heirloom sword
you've been dragging along ....
