Ah Timo,

I, too, have memories of food tossing at events, which in my case was during
court. However those memories are in NO way fond or fun. I had just returned
to my seat beside my Mother, who was visiting the SCA. We were sitting next to
a group of rowdy drunken Knights and Squires (fie on them for shaming the
Chivalry)!

She leaned over and whispered to beware of incoming grapes - when just then
-- one hit me square on the bosom of my very favorite court garb (which took
weeks to embroider and applique). Thank God the grape did not split open, else
I should have been forced to kill the offender. Instead, I took said grape
and made a determined walk over to another group of drunken Knights and Squires
and straight up to the tosser and said, "Sir, I give you back your grape!"
wearing my sternest face. His face was beet red and I could see him appear to
shrivel into himself as he watched me approach.

What a show for my poor mother (or anyone) to witness of the actions of a few
"funloving" folk. Not to mention the dangers of walking upon squashed grapes
on the floor.

Thank goodness their group was the next called up in court and they left
after that.

So much for fun and fond memories. Their loudness and childish actions
prevented any in our group from hearing what was happening in court.

Too often, I have found in my 16 years in the SCA that many of the unhappy
things that happen at feast or court are committed by Peers.
