I also cant see a basis in fact as well as the
attached statement is very mis-leading as far as the
statements about the SCA legality. It could very
easily lead a newbie into purchasing a helm that would
not be legal in any sense other than th gauge of steel
it is made from.

...
from the auction data it's pretty clear on first read that the helm is being sold primarily as a *dress* helm, but can have dual use. note the detail description under the section about the mail:

* ... The brass rim of the helm has attachments for a visor.

(note the attachment points on the rim)

for anyone inside "the game", it's a accepted detail that a combat legal visor (barred or otherwise) would have to be attached prior to use on field.

further down is a even better detail - a disclaimer that should not be necessary, but one that ALL scadian fighters should know by heart ....

* ... It is your respondsibilty to understand SCA combat rules and regulations. These rules and regulations vary from tournament to tournament and all standards are subject to interpretation by Tournament Marshal. For your own protection, do not wear this or any other helmet in any combat activity unless it is approved by SCA Officials prior to event.

personally, the helmet isn't to my taste as a dress item (wrong time & place) or a fighting helm (no where near enough neck protection in the rear) .. but might make a good mantle decoration for someone.
