> In an effort to try to figure out how to attract new people and keep them
in, here are a series of questions that I'd like as many of you as possible
to answer...so that I can get a good "demographic"... keep answers
brief...please...
>
> 1. What attracted you to the SCA?

In short, what attracted me was fencing. I'd always loved watching it in
movies and wanted to do it and this gave me a way to.

> 2. What is your perspective of what the SCA is to you?

The SCA gives me a way to leave the modern world behind and be someone I
feel I should have been anyway. It also provides me friends that become
more like family wherever I live since I have no family where I am living.

> 3. Where do you invest the most time and energy in the SCA (household,
local group, kingdom, specific activity)

In the past, most of my energy has been invested in fencing but now I think
its going to lean more towards the local group.

> 4. How long before you started to take initiative in the SCA (applying for
an office, organizing an activity, etc.?)

About 2 years

> 5. Were there instances that could have "run you out of the SCA"..why did
they not...or why did you come back?

Yes there were and I decided instead of letting them get the best of me and
make me leave an organization I love I would stick to my guns... err,
swords, and do everything I can to change what might run others off in the
future.

> 6. How long before you burned out? Why did you burn out? Is there anything
anyone could have done to help keep you from "burning out"?

I haven't really burned out yet, that may be because my job has limited how
much participation I have had in the past but it hasn't happened yet.

> 7. What do you get out of the SCA?

I get a place I can be creative in any way I like and everyone is accepting
of it. I get a family away from my actual family.

> 8. If you have your AoA...how long did you get it after starting to
participate in the SCA?

I got it after about 3 years of playing

> and last but not least...why do you think that people should join the SCA
and stay in it?

I think people should join because they love some part of the middle ages.
Whatever part that may be, fighting, cooking, sewing, or just dressing up
and sitting around with friends, if they like it they should do it. I don't
think it's for everyone and if someone doesn't like it I don't think they
should do it no matter what other people say. I also believe that people
that join should do only what they truly enjoy and not get into things
because someone told them to or they feel obligated.
