The Baronies Bordermarch and Raven’s Fort invite you to
“RavensMarch”
February 25th thru 27th, 2005
The Crown of Ansteorra has sent forth the call for the armies of
Ansteorra to gather and prepare for the battles to come at Gulf Wars
this spring.
So as neighbors, two great Baronies of Ansteorra, Raven’s Fort and
Bordermarch have come together for a weekend of Gulf War style
Chivalric, Rapier, A&S and siege weapon practice as well as many other
activities to enjoy and prepare Ansteorra for the battles and contests
at Gulf Wars.
In addition to the war practices, “RavensMarch” has been given the honor
of hosting The Ansteorrian Royal Huntsman Archery Tournament to choose
Ansteorra’s premier archery champion. This fine tournament will be held
to determine who shall have the privilege of being His Majesty's Royal
Huntsman. The exact format of the tournament shall be announced at the
field but it will be varied to show your skill with target and combat
ammunition and allow for a bow-out stage for those who wish to test the
mettle of those entering but can not perform the duties laid down for
the honor.
Armies of Red and Black will be chosen in order to determine who might
win the “RavensMarch Chest of Treasures”. It is requested, if possible,
that those participating in these activities bring a donation to add to
the “Chest of Treasures” that will be shared by the winning army. There
will be a chest for the heavy and light. The Baronies are sweetening
the booty to make this Treasure Chest one worth competing for.
Fighting at RavensMarch will be Gulf Wars style melees for both the
heavy and light fields. Battles will include Castle, Bridge and Field.
Siege engines and combat archery will be allowed. All available marshals
are encouraged to attend and assist if able. Armor Inspection will be
conducted at the Marshals Point Saturday morning at 8am.
All siege engines will need to be inspected by a siege marshal at the
Siege Marshals Point before being led into the battle area. Combat
archers will need to have their equipment inspected at the Archers Point
before being allowed to shoot in the melees. All fighters will have to
be inspected by a marshal regardless of siege or combat archery status.
Melees will start at no later than 10am. Detailed information, goals and
limitations will be given before each scenario and battle.
All of this fighting and fun will take place at the Borderkeep Castle
located at Jones Country Camp Ground north of Woodville. See the map
below for directions to BorderKeep Castle.
A&S will be a Gulf War style display with Gulf Wars rules and forms used
for comments. Commentary will be encouraged. Participants of the A&S
display are asked to donate to the Treasure Chest that will be shared
among the winning army of A&S participants. Details will be given at the
event.
As at Gulf Wars, volunteer points will be awarded and tallied to honor
and reward the army that fields not only the most victorious fighters,
but also the most industrious workers, heralds, waterbeaers, marshals
and other deeds. Details will be available at volunteer point.
You will not starve in these battles, as there will be taverns to feed
the populace. Don't forget the shopping. Merchants galore will be
peddling their wares. All merchants and taverns are welcome, no fee is
charged; contact the merchant or tavern coordinator.
Children will have activities provided by the Minister of Children of
Raven’s Fort and Bordermarch. Although, they do ask for a bit of your
time to help out so there are no orphans of war.
Saturday night will be the time to recount stories of victory or defeat
around the Bardic Circle or at a Hafla being held by the Houston
Dancers. All are welcome. Come perform a song, story or dance to enchant
the night. Details of these and other activities will be announced on
the web page, lists or at the event as they are finalized.
So come all to the Borderkeep Castle for “RavensMarch” in preparation
for the battles of Gulf War.
