This Sunday at the Southern Regional Rapier practice in Round Rock I plan
to teach a Rapier Marshal's Class. I am tentatively scheduling this for
3:00pm, assuming acceptable weather.
This class will show how to inspect a fighter, how to marshal a rapier
bout and recent rules updates. It will NOT include a comprehensive (long
and boring) review of the rules; you will have to read those for yourself
beforehand.
Unlike some marshal's classes I have seen, I will not automatically
authorize as a rapier marshal, everyone who attends. I am willing to do
some marshals' authorizations on Sunday as time allows, but you will need
to know the rules and be able to demonstrate the skills I teach in the
class.
As I do when authorizing a fighter, if I have already (recently) seen you
demonstrate the skills and knowledge I want to see, your authorization
should be relatively quick and easy. Those who I am seeing marshal for the
first time should expect a comprehensive authorization process. In either
case I expect a thorough knowledge of the current rules.
Whether you actually get your authorization on Sunday or not, the class
will give you a lot of information you will need when you do go for your
marshal's authorization.
You can find the current Ansteorran Rapier Rules here:

Select the Ansteorran Rules. They will download as a PDF file (Adobe
Acrobat) which should be readable in most browsers.

BE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE INFORMATION FOR THE WEEKEND FIGHTER PRACTICE (in
Round Rock), *NOT* THE TUESDAY PRACTICE (near the airport).
