The best solution to the sort of problem I have seen described in 
this thread is to have an energetic, fun, happy group. Dark efforts 
don't succeed in this sort of environment because the dark emotions 
that drive them cannot grow.

So...have more fun. Have fun fighting and singing and crafting, but 
also have fun sitting gate, setting up tents and cleaning the site. 
Enjoy the time with your fellows whether your hand hold a sword, a 
script, a pot or a garbage bag.
