I was once told that the reason "old timers" did not spend a lot of time with newcomers was because they were burned out teaching the newbees. i am not accusing anyone with my comment. There were a lot of things I had to learn on my own because not everything was 'taught' to me. I was very happy that I had a patient barony to raise me and my family, so we did get taught a lot, and we in tern taught many new comers. But there were also a lot of newcomers that did not have the support people I had and so they did not get taught as we did. Do we need to do a better job teaching? Yes, I think we do. But the burnout of teachers is also a worry. I feel for those who have been burned after teaching for 20 years just to have a new batch of newbees come through the door.
Chivalry is not dead, but when the students out number the teachers, it takes time to get caught up...which can also never happen.
end of my babbling,
mahee
