It discusses the frequency of this bone in various population groups.
The second most common place to find it is in Subsaharan Africa.  You
can also find it sometimes in Tibetans.

So our variant individual could have come from other locations at the
fringe of currently recognized Viking excursions.  This does not stop it
from being exciting.  We know they hit North Africa.  This might mean
they went farther south.  More likely, though, would be the idea that he
or she was a slave from farther south that was sold in North Africa and
then to a passing Scandinavian.
