It's nice to see you considering entering a paper, Stephanie. You have a great deal of knowledge. We actually spent a great deal of time at Laurel's retreat this year re-doing the judging forms for research papers. You can find a copy on the Kingdom Minister of A&S wepage that is linked to the Ansteorran website. As the Kingdom MoAS, I saw papers from several pages to close to 50! I certainly do not recommend entering anything that might be confused with a book<G>, but the laurels are pretty flexible. My advice would be to narrow your subject and make it as long as it needs to be. Personally, I am more excited by depth of knowledge than breadth, but this varies from person to person and on your purpose for writing.
Good luck and I'll look forward to seeing your work.

I am fairly new, and have a question about doing research papers for A&S. I have the A&S manual, but it really only covers what is allowable, not what people feel is desirable. I hear a lot about static and bardic entries, but not much on the research end. Since I get accused of over documentation, I thought maybe I should enter a few. How long should they be? Is it a "as long as it takes" kind of thing, or is there a generally accepted limit? If an art form starts in say, the 13th century and then reaches its' zenith in the 18th century, do you only cover it to 1600? Any other pointers?
