With no disrespect to the facility of Her Grace's memory, I must directly disagree with 
this assertion.  Largess both in the material and philosophical sense has been a part of 
the culture of Meridies since its inception. Having been around during that span I offer 
the observation with no fear of correction.
Perhaps not a great production is made of the act; however it is done

I made a general statement about all of Meridies which is always wrong and I am sorry. 
. The custom didn't seem to be in practice 19 years ago in the Western half of Meridies. 
I know it existed earlier in South Downs because I learned about it there and I know it was being practiced in what is now Glen Albem because I was doing it and after about a year others restarted it. But when I got there no one seemed to be doing it and the populace reacted like they had never heard of it.  
Of course I was living in Miss. and when Jonathan and came we doubled the number of peers by Half. The problem was probably based on having no peers and nobles to interact with.
