Ok thanks that explains a lot now I understand. I did a lot of head scratching talking to some friends at PiP. They would tell me about the good old days (really ticked me off because I was not around) and then say they had to recruit people like us (older). Not sure what the solution is but I think it is something we should look at if the SCA is going to grow and not have to wait for the children of members to grow old enough to play on their own.

And that's the crucial point. In the 70s and early 80s, the Ansteorran 
populace was almost entirely in its 20s and 30s. I was considered one of 
the old-timers in 1988, at age 33 and 10 years of activity.
