Back in the olden days when I was young it was called being a gentleman.  In 
the South it was ingrained into a young man's behavior.  My 'lady like' 
behavior was drummed into me with the use of a thimble applied firmly to the 
top of my head along with That Is Not How A Young Lady Acts!.
