Greetings,
Not sure about TLU but at OU only matriculating students count towards the
student group...non-students can be associate members (by whatever title
you want to call them).
...every school will be different.

I would second this suggestion. Look into forming a Canton and a
separate student medieval history group that meets the requirements.
That's essentially how Shadowlands functions with respect to the
university. So, while the majority of our population is transient
students we have a core of non-student long resident members to
maintain continuity.
