In addition to metal workers, St. Dunstan (Archbishop of Canterbury, d. May 19, a.d. 978) is also a patron of bell-makers, embroiderers, and heralds.  He is said to have designed ecclesiastical embroideries, and he did craft the coronation ceremony of King Edgar, which is the basis of the British coronation ritual to this day.

There are two stories regarding him as a metal worker in which he bested the devil: in one, he seized the devil by the nose with a pair of tongs (which is Dunstan's emblem).  In the other, he was asked by the devil to shoe a horse.  He drove a nail in the devil's foot and refused to remove it until the devil promised not to enter a house with a horseshoe over the doorway.
