[Ansteorra] General event question

Feast has never been a deciding factor in event attendance for me. If
it were entirely period recipes it might be though. After 15 years I
am VERY tired of the modern, mundane, bland and unseasoned "appeals to
all" feast menus. These do not appeal to me in the least. If I'm going
to be eating modern food I'd rather head off-site to a restaurant and
be able to select my meal and ensure it will arrive hot and in a
timely manner, without me having to do dishes. I am especially tired
of not being offered enough veggies. But an entirely period menu at an
event within a reasonable drive of my place would definitely make me
interested in attending an event where I otherwise might not have
been. I'm somewhat irked by your implication that a feast can be
EITHER a great meal OR something period. My experience thusfar has
been that period dishes are memorable, interesting, and sometimes
surprisingly good (in the "I never thought of that combination
before!" sense of surprising) while ""good ol meals" as you call them
have often been dry, overcooked and bland.

When I've already decided to attend an event, seeing the menu in
advance is key as it will allow me to decide if I will eat or not.
Generally, if it's something boring I can cook myself, I won't go for
it. I will not order feast without seeing a menu. Knowing the
reputation of the cook may influence my decision. I would not
participate in a feast that was the result of a cooking competition.
Too much uncertainty in both knowledge in advance of the offerings and
possible food safety issues.
