I kinda thought the original joke had more to do with MMORPGs having backpacks that will fit anything into them, so much in fact that you could have everything for a fully stocked campsite inside one.

But that was just my interpretation.

The joke most people don't seem to have gotten is that Tivar was talking about his actual pouch that he's worn for around thirty years, which does seem to have just about everything you need at an event.
