I was a newly single parent raising a small boy when I stumbled across the 
SCA at TRF.  I joined because it was a chance for us to get outside the 
house and go camping, so he could run around with other kids, play in the 
dirt and have fun while being exposed to some excellent male role models. 
And I liked the costumes :-)
