Fighting in the shade is certainly better than fighting in the
blazing Ansteorran summer sun. The problem can be finding sites that
have that much shade and can still accomodate a large SCA event. As
we saw at the most recent Queen's Champion, sometimes you have to
take what's available.

As for fighting in the morning, that might be feasible, presuming the
fighters, Crown, heralds, marshals, list minister, water bearers,
etc. are willing to get up and be organized that early--basically
start armor inspection at sunrise and start fighting as soon after
that as possible.

I'm less sure about fighting in the evening. By the time it cools
down, it's getting pretty close to sunset. It's been a *long* time
since we had to postpone the end of an Ansteorran list to Sunday
morning because it was too dark for the fighters to see their
opponents clearly; I'm not sure we still know how to do that. <G>
