Let me see if I remember correctly:

The black star with greater and lesser points was chosen to reflect the
Misty Star that is on the arms of the Barony of the Stargate (the first
local SCA group in the area, founded in 1972). It was designed with ten
points in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Society (Ansteorra was
created as a principality in 1976). The sun was included in honor of our
mother kingdom, Atenvelt, and its color reflects the arms that were
registered to the Barony of Bjornsborg in 1976. I'm not sure about the gold
field or the black single tressure, but the gold could very well have been
chosen to reflect the arms of the Barony of Namron.

The Barony of the Stargate is named in recognition of LBJ Space Center, and
not the Lone Star of Texas.

Ansteorrans are Ansteorrans, no matter which mundane state we live in.
