Spinning around is the Weight Throw, weght with handle and chain

Handle attached to the weight is Weight Throw for Height
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight_over_the_bar
 
where you chuck the weight over a bar above your head and dodge it when it comes down.
 
 

Maybe that's why sewing machines don't usually come with handy handles  
right on top.
