Doing a Google(r)-brand Web search for
     insurance site:sca.org
leads to http://www.sca.org/docs/insurance.html, which includes a link
"Information about Insurance from the Seneschal's Handbook". It's
actually a link to the entire Seneschal's Handbook, so as it says,
look at pages 22-24 (which are 27-28 in the electronic copy, as some
frontispiece pages are not numbered).

As I read it, and I Am Not A Lawyer:

The SCA Inc. insurance protects SCA Inc. Indirectly this reassures a
site owner, because it assures them that there are deeper pockets they
can claim against in case of trouble.

If a site owner demands "a higher level of protection", they can be
made "additionally insured on the SCA Inc.'s policy". There is a fee
and it must be paid well in advance, so plan ahead, event stewards!

The equestrian insurance is a separate matter: it has its own document
and requirements.

"Remind people that the SCA insurance does not cover participants for
injuries to their person or damaes to their personal propery. This is
why the SCA requires waivers, which offer protection for the
corporation and its officers." The exception noted is if a site owner
is an SCA member: their site is protected in the same sense as a
non-SCA member's site.

After a bit of Googling, I think the terms of interest are
     "Benjamin Schragger"
     "Ben the Steward"
     "Constitution Insurance Co."
The latter is suing the SCA Inc to get out of covering the SCA in the
Schragger case. I suspect all officers of the Corp. give a big "No
Comment" when asked anything about the suits, except for any official
statements issued by the legal staff employed by SCA Inc.
