<<< I would be all in favor to do a fundraiser to sponsor more
background
checks. I would even volunteer to help run some activities for
children if
I knew what activities were appropriate and if I was clear to do so. I
wish there was more stuff for my daughter to do. She loves doing
stuff but
many of the activities we do are not really kid friendly.

As mentioned in other posts, I'm sure your local Minister of Children
(MoC), which in your case, is mine as well, will be open to any help
they can get. This also includes the person running children's
activities at any event, even if it isn't local.

The MoC may already have some activities planned out, and I wouldn't
want to interfere with that, but many are open to additional ideas and
activities.

Here are a few files in the CHILDREN section of the Florilegium which
might give you some ideas for different children's activities, whether
as MoC or for just your own children. Again, these are activities
specifically for children, although I've often seen "adult" SCA folks
try to get in on some activities meant for the children, and many
regular SCA activities are open to children.

One of the strong points to the SCA is that children can often do
things along with the adults, whether that is shooting on the archery
field, cooking food in the feast kitchen, serving food or beverages in
the feasthall or waterbearing on, or usually next to, the list field.
