As a female who grew up in the '60s and '70s under the bombardments of the Women's Revolution, one of the most difficult lessons of my early days in the SCA was being gracious enough to allow a man to carry my ice chest or hold the door for me.  Finally, I realized the gentlemen were offering me a gift of courteous behavior.  In return, I owed them the courtesy of accepting their gift.
