Greetings,
Now is the time to start the shameless plugs for two recorder classes. We
are going to have a “Recorder Consort Jam Session” for all recorders at
King’s College on June 23rd. I hope that you can all come and make some
beautiful music. Mistress Amata and Master Gaston have kindly volunteered
to help with the alto and soprano parts and I will be helping the tenors as
we read though some of the music in Master Avatar’s book *Early Period and
Popular Dance Music*. I will have a few copies at the event to sell or you
can go to Amazon to get a copy. I will also have some recorders of the
three sizes to loan if you want to try a different instrument.
We are hoping that someone who plays bass recorder will be able to attend
as well to finish out the sound of the ensemble.
This is an intermediate class as we will not be going over how to read
music. However if you want to learn to play recorder and read music I have
a class for you. “Toot a Little Tune: Very Beginning Recorder Class.” You
need no more knowledge than that you want to learn. It is a class that
focuses on the soprano and tenor recorders but alto recorders are more than
welcome. I will have some instruments there for you to borrow if needed.
Hope to see you there.
