[Ansteorra] Fwd: Read this before drinking Gatorade again

Actually, according to Wikipedia, the purpose of BVO in sports drinks is to help suspend fat-soluble flavorings, particularly in citrus drinks.  I seriously doubt a simple petition would make them sit up and take notice without a viable replacement solution.  Also, it seems to me that you would have to drink rather alarming amounts of Gatorade daily to really see problems.  Moreover, I would hardly call the EU and Japan good yardsticks for food safety.  They both tend to be somewhat...overprotective, shall I say?  The EU has a tendency to pass restrictions on food additives without any actual scientific evidence to back it, and Japan has, at least with imported beef, been known to impose much stricter regulations than are absolutely necessary based on the scientific data.

This isn't a case of litigation, it's a petition asking them to remove
the ingredient from their product. I certainly don't see the harm in
asking a company to remove a potentially dangerous ingredient whose
only benefit is preserving strange colors in a drink. But it's not
like I drink the stuff, I was just informing y'all of the petition.
