Arts and Sciences at Bryn Gwlad Candlemas 2014


Their Excellencies, Master Phelim Gervese and Mistress Myfanwy ferch Eifion, Baron and Baroness of Bryn Gwlad, invite you to celebrate Candlemas with us on February 1, 2014. This Candlemas brings with it many changes. With the investiture of our new Baron and Baroness, Lady Helene Dalassene and Don Ceallach Mac Donal, there will be need of a new Baronial Arts and Sciences champion to represent them.
In addition to this selection, there will be an opportunity for those who wish to simply display their skills and crafts before all. 

The Arts and Sciences Champion of Bryn Gwlad Competition

The competition for the Arts and Sciences Champion of Bryn Gwlad will be open to static arts entries, research papers, and non-bardic performance entries. (Bardic performers are encouraged to enter the Bardic Championship). There is no specific theme for the competition.
Only one entry per individual is permitted. Documentation is required. The Ansteorran Judging Forms for static arts, research papers, and performance will be used to judge entries. Research papers must be e-mailed to Lady Elen by January 20th to allow sufficient time for review. Static and Performance entries registration deadline January 30st to reserve space and/or to let Lady Elen know what your entry will be. Contact info at bottom of post.
The Baronial Champion will be chosen by the incoming Baron and Baroness of Bryn Gwlad. 


Non-Competition Arts and Sciences Display

Artisans who do not wish to compete will have the opportunity to display their works, or works in progress, during the Arts and Sciences event. Artisans will be given space to set out their works, complete or “in work”, to encourage discussion with other artisans or simply to invite interested gentlefolk to view their art. Children are encouraged to display their work as well, as the artistic prowess of our Barony is not limited to adults. E-mail Lady Simona (contact info at bottom of post) to let her know you intend to display so she can reserve a space for you.
