[Ansteorra] Shadow Wars Non-Traditional Games

Shadow Wars is this coming weekend. There are plenty of ways to participate, even if you have no advanced skills or previous SCA experience. Come and join in the non-traditional games. Top three entrants/teams
for each event will receive medallions and points will go to the army that they
represent.
Best Dressed Loaner Garb (no more than 5 entrants for each army)
Groups are encouraged to
put together an outfit on a model comprised from the group’s loaner garb. Each
entrant should declare for one of the army sides. Modelling will be done in opening
ceremonies on Saturday morning.
Boat Races (4 teams for each army)
3 people on each team
that will “ride” the Viking ship or Italian gondola by walking in tandem. This
will be run in heats with the fastest time in each heat advancing.
Cheese Rolling (4 people for each army)
Each person rolls a
wheel of cheese with a wooden spoon. This will be run in heats with the fastest
time in each heat advancing.
Horseless Equestrian (4 people for each army)
A timed run through an
equestrian course after mounting your “horse”. The horse will be provided. Three
fastest entrants win.
Obstacle Course (4 people for each army)
Entrants will race
through an obstacle course that contains both physical obstacles and obstacles
requiring skills (and lots of running). Three fastest entrants win.
Name that Dance Tune (Written Test- unlimited entrants)
Listen to snippets from
dance songs and write down the title of the dance/song. Paper will be provided,
but there will be a limited number of pens/clipboards. Please bring a
pen/pencil if you can. Entrants with the top three scores win.
Ansteorran History Test (Written test- 10 entrants per army)
Answer questions on
important Ansteorran history. The information comes from the Ansteorran History
page, especially the list of kings and queens. There is an hour limit and NO
electronic devices are allowed. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the
one who submitted their answer sheet first.
